Wysockie Lake is a charming reservoir located on the border of Gdansk. Through its centre runs the border between the city of Gdansk and the municipality of Zukowo.
Thus, the eastern shore of the lake is within the administrative borders of the city of Gdansk and the western shore is within the administrative borders of the municipality of Zukowo. The border refers to the historical division – at that time half of the basin belonged to the Abbots of Oliwa and the part on the Chwaszczyno side to the Bishops of Wloclawek. For many centuries (until 1920), the lake was called Wittstocker See – after the settlement of Wittstock, or Wysoka, which is now within the administrative borders of Gdansk Osowa.
